As a Medical Dosimetrist, Jay Robirds has a highly specialized and technical job that is spent largely at a computer. He designs treatment plans through technology or other computations that will deliver a physician’s prescribed radiation dose while ensuring the patient does not lose necessary healthy organ function. Because his position is so technical, it would be easy for him to see his patients only as scans on his computer screen, but Jay is able to perform the functions of his seemingly impersonal job while recognizing that the images he studies are actually images of real people. Because Rocky Mountain Oncology’s philosophy is to treat every patient like family, Jay remains connected with patients. In fact, a former patient gave Jay his current canine “child,” Chloe.
