Paula Sue Novotny
For Paula Sue, treating cancer patients as a radiation therapist is a purpose given to her by God. After her sons graduated from college, Paula Sue decided to go back to school, receiving degrees in science and x-ray technology. As part of her training, she rotated through cancer therapy and fell in love. Paula Sue chose to go back to school for an extra year to become a radiation therapist, and moved from North Carolina to Casper in 2013, where she worked at Rocky Mountain Oncology. After briefly getting acquainted with Rocky Mountain Oncology in Casper, she moved to Lander to start Rocky Mountain Oncology’s Lander clinic. Paula Sue believes her job is to not only treat patients, but to assist them in their journey to healing with lots of love and compassion. Her favorite part of her job is the fact that all of her patients become family. She becomes deeply involved with their lives and challenges, and lives for the “Yes!” moments when a PET scan comes back clear and she knows that the work she has done has helped her patient become cancer-free. When asked what makes RMOC different from other facilities or care centers, Paula Sue says it’s the people. Her team at RMOC in Lander is close and works hand-in-hand to serve the same cause: to wipe out cancer.
